Message sent to all members on 9/23Posted Wednesday, September 23, 2009 by Bari Tuman Greetings...
I know I have sent out a couple of extremely brief emails recently but it is time again for one of my more lengthy one as we have a lot going on. So get your calendars ready, find your favorite "erasable" pen (remember, nothing is etched in stone with us!) and fasten your seatbelts!
- First I would like to address the picture issues. We all need to thank Marie Hudson for her tireless efforts in straightening out the issues with the professional photographs, not to mention for the wonderful pictures she has been taking of the girls from the sidelines and stands.
- There was a problem with the team picture and as a result, it was omitted from the packages and in some cases, held up a few orders as they had specialty orders specifically involving the team photo
- The following girls have contacted us about this issue - Kristen and Talon (resolution is your order will be ready in about 2 weeks, delivered to Marie Hudson who will distribute accordingly)
- The following girl indicated her order was lost - Laura Brink (your order is being reprinted and will be ready in about 2 weeks, delivered to Marie Hudson who will distribute accordingly)
- All paid individual photos are being reprinted and touched up by the lab as it appears many may have been a bit dark and/or drab (will be ready in about 2 weeks and delivered to Marie Hudson who will distribute accordingly)
- Missing team photos from packages are being addressed (will be ready in about 2 weeks, delivered to Marie Hudson who will distribute accordingly)
- If you have an issue regarding the professional photos that is not addressed here, please contact me and Marie ASAP so we can begin working on it.
- Mountain View Elementary School's Fall Festival - Friday, October 2nd from 6:00 to 8:30 pm
- Coach Wright is finalizing the details with the festival organizer and will provide the details to the girls. However, please plan on allotting this time for the performance. Good news - there is no Football Game for us this week as we have a Bye.
- Homecoming (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9TH)
- The team will be performing at both the pep rally and the game - Coach Wright is working on the details with the LHS Athletic Director
- The Float construction is being managed by Jim Brink and his faithful assistant, Pat O'Krongly (thank you gentlemen!)
- The following parents have graciously volunteered (or in some cases, wives volunteered their husbands - OOOPPPS) to assist with the construction and destruction
- Tim Smith and Kevin O'Hara...there is still plenty of space available for this very important job. It is a lot easier and faster with more hands...please sign up!
- Jim compiled and I sent out a work schedule - let me know if you need for me to resend it so you can sign up
- Challise Copeland offered to be in charge of the costumes (please call me so I can give you the particulars on this)
- Nancy O'Hara offered to be in charge of the tailgate party (food) for the girls which will take place prior to the parade in the staging area (Home Depot Parking Lot)
- Fiorenza Smith offered to be in charge of the float decorations (please work with Jim Brink on this as it falls under the general construction)
- FOOTBALL PLAYER LOCKER/MAILBOX DECORATIONS
- as we did last year, each girl will be assigned a football player for which she is responsible to decorate his mailbox, locker and provide a treat (baked good or candy)
- Carole Brink is working on getting this information out to everyone
- Bari Tuman (hey - that's me!) will be getting the candy for the girls to throw from the float
- Senior Week - November 2nd - November 6th
- Most of the arrangements will be handled by the senior moms (Jody Kastner, Nancy Brucker and Bari Tuman). However, we need another parent to organize and arrange the senior banners. Please email me back if you are available for this.
- GWINNETT CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL DANCE COMPETITION - Saturday, November 21st
- This is hot off the press - we just received this information a couple of hours ago. You will notice it is the Saturday before our Thanksgiving Break. Please make every effort to ensure your dancer is available to participate.
- Reminder - attendance for competitions are mandatory, per the handbook
- Coach Wright will be handing out the waivers and such to the girls shortly
- we will need to know who will be performing solos and/or small groups ASAP so we can complete the registration and billing
- Our November statements will reflect the competition fees (additional fees apply for solos and small groups)
- There will be a practice added the Friday before - November 20th
- I had previously volunteered to host the pizza party and car decorating at my house following the practice, however, I will be traveling that week and will be returning that Friday night...any volunteers willing to host it that night?
- In the works are plans for a performance at a senior center and the team holiday party. Both of these will take place in December and most likely on a Sunday afternoon/evening. Nancy Brucker is making these arrangements and will have the details for us very soon.
- Performance for the Winter Special Olympics Opening Ceremony is in the works. I am currently in communication with the board now and should have some information in the upcoming weeks.
- KSU Competition - Saturday, January 16th (I previously provided everyone with this information...this is MLK weekend - please do not make any plans to be away!)
- It is necessary for girls interested in doing solos and/or small group performances to let Coach Wright know as soon as possible so she can complete the registration forms and we can get an accurate accounting
- January statements will reflect this competition's fees (solos and small groups have additional fees)
- Coach Wright will be handing out the waivers and such to the girls
- UGA Competition - I just wrote to them tonight to see if they have selected their date yet...only know it is a Saturday in January.
- UDA State Competition - the weekend of February 5th through February 7th (this is hot of the press as well)
- I do not have any other details on this just yet...please mark the dates on your calendar (in erasable pen)
- FUND Raising -
- Challise Copeland is the bomb! She is working feverishly on a few different opportunities for us - Spa Gift Certificates and Chick-Fil-A Calendars. We will have information on both of these very shortly as we need to get started on selling them PDQ!
- Doggie Biscuits....it is to be determined as to whether or not we will be doing these this year. One of the biggest factors will be obtaining a chair for this activity. If you are interested, please call me so I can discuss the particulars with you.
Okay - I think I covered everything for now. We need volunteers for many of the items listed. Please don't be shy! This is a great way to be a fly on the wall and to share a great experience with your daughter. Not to mention, a great way for others to carry on the traditions for the years coming. If you did volunteer for something and I omitted your name - I apologize and will correct it ASAP. The great thing about being a volunteer - no experience necessary!
I look forward to hearing back from you.
